registration district help please
« on: Friday 16 December 05 21:15 GMT (UK) »

If someone was born and lived in Harborne, in the mid 1800s, where would the registration district be for their marriage? I'm looking for the marriage of Samuel Westwood and Elizabeth ? , and I've found three that fit into the timescale I'm looking at, one in Dudley, one in Kings Norton and one in Stourbridge. I dont know the area at all, and I'm hoping someone can shed some light.
Regards, Benn.

Hi Benn,

The registration district for Harborne is Kings Norton.

Fingers crossed!

Hi Benn

Genuki will usually give you this type of information
http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/  -  find the county of interest and then use the  Edit/Find in explorer to find the town of interest.

You can email Birmingham Register Office at register.office@birmingham.gov.uk to check if they hold the record.
The Register Office became part of Birmingham District in 1924  I think, but they do not hold all the registers, some are at Bromsgrove I believe.
They had  a marriage certificate I wanted from Harborne at Birmingham.
You can also pay online for the certificate. Speeds things up no end and they send them out very quickly.
