Dunedin & Invercargill lookups please

Hi there.

I was born and raised in NZ, as were my parents.  Since I now live in Canada, I no longer have access to NZ Archives, and was wondering if someone could please do any one of 3 lookups for me?

OF my 4 grandparents, 3 were born in NZ, and I havent found the 4th one yet because he was not listed on my mothers birth certificate. 

Of my 8 gt grandparents - 3 were born in England, 1 was born in Australia,  2 were born in NZ and 2 of them are obviously unknown, but I have one possible clue.

Lookup one -
I'm looking for any GAFFNEY families specifically living in LEITH VALLEY Road in Dunedin between 1935 and 1960. Can someone please check out the directories for me? I'm looking for first names & if possible, occupations. This name & location are the only clue I have to my mother's possible paternal grandparents. 

Lookup 2 -
My maternal Great Grandfather was named Joseph Fernley (or Fernleigh) STEPHENS. He was born in Plymouth, Devon, England in 1891, and married Jane MCCALLUM in Invercargill in 1916.   He was listed in the 1901 census as an 8 year old in Plymouth. His Fathers name was Thomas A STEPHENS (a Butcher) born in Lostwithiel, Cornwall. His mother was Ellen Bickham but she had died by the time the 1901 census occurred.

So sometime between 1901 and 1916, Fernley/Fernleigh  STEPHENS  sailed to New Zealand. Whether or not he came with his family, or just by himself, I have no idea. Does anyone have any ideas on how and where I could find records of him arriving in NZ? Ships lists between 1901 & 1916.

Lookup 3
Could someone please look up a birth record for Jane Johnstone MCCALLUM in the Invercargil district approx 1891-92. PArents names unknown. I'd like to have a folio number if possible. Her birthplaces is listed as Maianewa. I have been advised that it could possibly be either Waianewa or Mararewa.

I know this is asking a lot, but I figured I would list all my queries at once. I dont expect any one person to do them all.  Any help that anyone can provide, would be very much appreciated.

I've just checked the ARCHWAY website for NZ archives, and I have found what look like probate references for the Fernleigh and Jane (nee McCallum) Stephens listed above. Are these for wills? 
How easy is it to obtain copies of these wills?
How much are they?
How useful are they likely to be?

It looks like Fernleigh Joseph Stevens died in Otautau in 1964 and his wife Jane Johnstone Stephens died in Alexandra in 1986.  Since Fernleigh was born in 1891, he would have been roughly 72 at the time he died.  Jane was born approx 1892 and would have been approx 94 when she died.

My parents still live in Dunedin and would be quite happy to pay to get these for me. My mother was adopted out as a child, and is now very interested in finding out the history of her family.

Your parents could actually order ONE will for free from the Archives. You get one free one a year, only costs are photocopying and postage.

Hi there ... on the off chance I tried the City of Dunedin Cemetery database (now online - bless their cotton socks Smiley) and found one GAFFNEY of Leith Valley Road.

I too had family at Anderson's Bay. You can e-mail Jennifer Dyhrberg Cemetery Services Officer  jdyhrber@ddc.gov.nz. She sent me the inscription of the Headstones that i inquired about.
You need to give her the ref no from the database. She will look it up and then check the headstone to see if is transcribed correct.
