Look up Please Richard Jeffery

Looking for a Richard Jeffery born Kitling 1847. Have found him in 1851/1861 living in Kirtling with his family. Cannnot find him after that. Any help would be greatfull.

How are you trying to find him ? Do you use Ancestry  ?

On 1871 he's there name spelt JEFFREY as was the other Jeffery chap we've discussed before.

If you want details let me know.

Thanks for the info on Richard Jeffery. John I do use Ancestry . Had a look on there for him, but they spell the surname several different ways. I thought  the wife had tried all the ways to spell him. As for being a Fossil Digger the mind boggles Grin. Must have been before Time Team started. Thanks anyway for your help

rethink on 1901 - found a Richard Jeffrey, age 53 born Kirtling with wife Harriett age 55  born Cambridgeshire living at 13 Crispin Street, Cambridge. He's a Coal Porter.

Interestingly next door at no 12 is Thomas Jeffrey age 24 Blacksmith's striker , & wife Lizzie age 24, + son Thomas age 3, plus Emma King sister in law age 17

I'm making a big assumption here but on 1881 census son Thomas was age 4, on 1901 this Thomas is 24 - so could be his son.

Also notice on 1881 Richard is 29 & son Lewis is 15 - he had him at age 14 - unless it was Harriet's from another relationship - she had him at age 18

Richard J married Harriet Oakman in Mar 1869 vol 3b page 680

Louis Oakman (I have a Lewis in my tree & it's sometimes spelt Louis) on 1861 census is born 1867 & is grandson to Louis Oakman b 1796 Chesterton  & wife Sarah

but Harriet E Oakman b 1846 born Chesterton is daughter to James Oakman & Ann.
