Can anyone please give me any details regarding this family for either the 1851 or 1861 census in St Winnow and/or Lostwithiel?
Here's what I do have.
1871 census - Bridge St Lostwithiel All born in Cornwall STEPHENS JOSEPH Head M 43 (He was a Butcher) STEPHENS MARY Daughter F 11 STEPHENS THOMAS A Son M 13 STEPHENS SOPHIA Daughter F 7 STEPHENS JOSEPH Son M 4
1841 census Polmangon, St Winnow All born in Cornwall Thomas Stephens 35 Farmer, Sophia Stephens 35 Mary Stephens 13 Twin Joseph Stephens 13 Twin Elizabeth Stephens 2 Thomas Stephens 1 Charity Stephens 75 Independent Means
IF anyone can tell what the A in Thomas A STEPHENS name stands for, I'd be very grateful.
Thank you

That A could be either Andrew or Adams, or whatever Jane's maiden name was. Need to find Jane's maiden name. But at least we get Sophia's maiden name. Thank you for those posts Darcy.
Lookup complete.

Hi Burrow,
I have been tracking down the Minords branch of my family and have amassed a fair amount of info. I am just starting to investigate the Adams side of the family.......there were at least 3 sisters, children of Joseph Adams born about 1774 in St Winnow. His daughter Sophia Adams married Thomas Stephens of Polmangon. Sophia's sister Mary married Edward Minards of St Winnow and the third sister Charity Adams married William Rundles. Marys daughter Charity Ann Minords married William Rundles and Charity Adams son who was called William Henry Rundles.
I dont know if you want to explore the Adams side of the family but hope this helps.

Have you considered this marriage? Joseph Stephens to Jane Pellew Mallett Bodmin 1857 Q1 5c/157
There is also a marriage to a Jane ley in St Austell in 1858, but as Jane Stephens is recorded as being born in St Winnow it is like that the the Bodmin RD is her.
Howver its only a supposition, but Jane Pellew Martin is the only one recorded in Bodmin between 1851 and 1858.

Hi janetmp
My great great grandfather was William Rundle (without the s as far as I know) and he married a Charity Jane Adams. Apparently he was supposed to be on a ship going to South Australia but jumped off it to come back and marry her.
One of their sons William Henry Rundle was born in 1842 in Lanlivery.
