Hi Kath
First of all, happy New Year to you too and again many thanks for all the hard work that you've been putting into the Brooks-Pate research.
Apologies for not replying sooner but I've been travelling back to Spain and last night's celebrations were a bit rowdy to say the least!
I do have a subscription to Ancestry - I've found some of the ones you mentioned born in Shocklach but not all - obviously doing something wrong. I'll get back to it later but there's certainly no need to type it all up - you've given so much help already. However I think it interesting that the John Pates b Shocklach end up very close in Tranmere to George Pate b Caldecott in Bebbington.
I'll come back to you when I've had a chance to digest all the information.
Once again,
Many thanks
Barbara

Hi Kath, saw your kind messages on 1841 census and wondered if you would be kind enough to do a look up for me? I was born in Cheshire but didn't know anything about my ancestors untill two years ago!! they lived in Beeston their names were James and Ann (nee Palin) Challinor he was an engine driver? living in Beeston. The other side of my family were Heathcote Joseph and Elizabeth, I live in Australia now so unable to get to Beeston, but I would love a photo of the old blacksmith's forge as that is where my g Grandfather Hugh Challinor worked as the blacksmith, do you have any idea's as to where I could get one? I have only seen photo's of Beeston castle. Thanks in anticipation, Chris in OZ

Thanks so much Kath I can hang on, I was just so thrilled that you replied, and if I can get photo's that would be great, I could kick myself as I was in Cheshire in 1989 and again in 1993 but wasn't interested in family history then, also didn't listen to my grandparents stories either about their families, I remember meeting my greatgrandmother (didn't know who she was) and then years later I saw the name Sarah Ellen in my tree and suddenly Sir Ellen popped into my brain it was her!!! that's what they called her. looking forward to hearing from you regards Chris.

Chris, As I don't have the ages of those you are looking for I have included the Challinor's residing in Beeston in the 1841 Census. I don't know which ones are yours They are all reference HO 107 96 They are all born in county
Samuel aged 30 Farm Servant Beeston Hall James aged 25 Agricultural Labourer Beeston Hall
John Challinor 60 Farmer Brookhouse Beeston Ann 60 John 40
William Challinor 30 Farmer Elizabeth 35 Emma 13 Eliza 7 John 2
I couldn't find any Palin's or Heathcotes in Beeston. They may be in a neighbouring village, do you have any approximate ages for them? Regards Kath

Hi Kath thanks so much for looking them up James is the one b. Beeston village 1818, the Windsors were Edward b 1831 he was born in Beeston or so it says and Ann jane nee Palin was b 1833 b Bunbury. The Heathcote's Joseph was b 1842 Macclesfield, what I was looking for was their parents names as on the IGI I can't find the names anywhere. Edward Windsor is on the 1871 census with the family but I have tried Winser Winzor and can't find him at all!! it was a sad story Edwards daughter Alice married Hugh Challinor and had six sons, one was my Granddad Hugh she died in childbirth in1897 and the baby a little girl named Alice died three months later as did Ann Challinor Hugh's mother, she must have come to live with them. All six boys got shipped off to Alice's mother Ann Windsor at Nantwich she was 68 so she would have been thrilled!!! Thanks again Kath, much appreciated Chris.

Hi Barbara, I am new to Roots chat and was interested in your quest as I was born in Bunbury and my dad still lives there. Talk of Within Street brought back many happy memories. My Godmother Elsie Thompson lived on Within Street, calling it a street gives the wrong impression it is in fact a dirt track just big enough to drive a car down but you would have to reverse out as there is not enough room to turn. When I last visited there were three houses at the end of the lane. Regards Richard Lawrence.
