Walter William Phillips
« on: Wednesday 28 December 05 15:41 GMT (UK) »

Looking for descendent's or any information about Walter William Phillips born 1872 in Cardiff and died 22nd July 1946 in Hove, Sussex. Walter was the founder of Phillips Yeast Company and Phillips Rubber Company two very diverse companies.

Walter had three children Olive, Marjorie and Douglas. Douglas was an executor of Walter's will and died circa 1980.

I am interested in when Walter bought/set up the two companies and why. If anyone has any information especially pre 1926 I would be very grateful. Was Walter involved in the local community when he was  living in the Brighton and Hove area? Are there any newspaper articles which I can access on line? Any information no matter how small will be gratefully received. I am writing an article for an exhibition on the Rubber Industry in the Manchester area in the 19th and 20th centuries and became completely absobed with finding out about Phillips Rubbers Ltd as I worked there in the 1960's.

Thanks

Margaret

Hi Margaret,

Not sure if this will help, but as they 'acquired' Phillips Yeast Company, they may hold some information...

Thanks Emma

I have just emailed them to see if they can give me any information about the acquisition of Phillips Yeast but I don't expect an early reply because it is Christmas. How did you know they bought Phillips Yeast and where did you get the information from I am really curious?

Regards

Hi Margaret,
