Hi-
I have been looking at the Charles and Hannah Cavill of Peter St,  Bath St James - is that right? If it is they are there in 1871 with older children - I thoguht I should check first. He has a son born 1863.
If this is the same one, I can send details.
Best wishes

The first thing to note is that FreeBMD does not have complete coverage of the civil registration and you are searching in a period - early 1860s when its coverage is less than complete

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/progressM.shtml

shows the approximate coverage in each year for marriages. Family relatives indexes start from 1866. Only 1837online has complete coverage pre 1866, though you can find some of the images for pages yet to be transcribed and indexed on FreeBMD.

http://images.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/choose.pl

On the 1871 census Charles Cavill, a publican, born Banwell and aged 30 was living in Bath with wife Hannah also aged 30 born Yate Gloucestershire. They had 5 children
Charles 8
Ernest 6
Kate A 4
Madeline L 2

The 1861 census pushes the possible marriage date (if before the birth of the first child) back a bit

1861 RG9 1687 folio 24
14 Peter Street Bath
Charles Cavill 26 Banwell Head  Married NK (Not Known)
Hannah Cavill 26  Bath Wife Married
Amelia Cavill 2 Bath Daughter
Eliza Brown 38  Bath Visitor  Married
Henry Brown 13  Bath Visitor

They would very young for a marriage in 1851 if their ages on this census are correct.

There seems to be a link with hannah and the Browns - 1851 has Eliza, daughter Fanny and son George in the workhouse in Yate.

http://images.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/choose.pl

I've checked it so it should work

Otherwise find the main page of FreeBMD and scroll down until you see in red view images.

On the 1891 census Charles gives his birthplace as Locking.

Even with a marriage I suspect it could still be tricky as the 1851 census shows two Cavel (spelt this way be the enumerator) families within pages of each other in Locking. Both heads of household are called John, one born circa 1807, the other circa 1811, both labourers (but luckily with different named wives). Locking doesn't appear to be on the IGI.
Heywood's 1851 census find for Charles  and his birthplace on the 1891 census seems to indicate strongly that he was born Locking and not close by Banwell.

You could request an 1841 census lookup for a Charles Cavill (plus spelling variations) to see if he is with his family in Locking.
