I beleive that a William Rushent b 1844 in Great Bedwyn WIL may have been living in Appleby in 1871.
Could someone please check for me whether there were any people with the Rushent surname in the 1871 census for Westmoreland.
It is a very unusual name outside of Wiltshire.
Many thanks.
Regards
Graham

Nope! Nothing at all came up for Rushent in Westmoreland.
The only William Rushent (in all England) is one born and living in Great Bedwyn, Wilts, b. 1838, living with his wife Mary and 6 daughters, and a 75yr old lodger called Martha Stroud. Are they of interest?
Cheers

Thanks.
Yes I do know this William. He is the uncle of the William I am looking for.
If they were living at 17 Farm Lane then it is the one that I know. However, I don't have a record of the reference number. Please could you let me have that.
Thanks.

Thanks K.
I have just noticed that you referred to a Martha STROUD lodging with them. I had not got this information before and it could be important in that Williams brother Thoams married an Ann STROUD in c 1851.

Martha Stroud, 75, lodger, w, pauper, born Stratton, Wilts
I've tried various misspellings for your Rushent, but nothing likely has turned up - maybe a sister/relative working as a servant (cook) in London: Sarah Rushent, b. Bedwin, 1848
Do you have him on the 1861? There is a William Rushent b. 1845, a servant (carter on a farm) living in Collingbouorne Kingston, Salisbury.
Cheers

It gives me another line to follow up on.
I would like the 1871 data on Sarah that you have found, please.
I don't have the information on William for 1861. Please could you let me have that too.
The Rushent family is not large and I am trying to piece most of it together.
Regards
Graham

Hi K
I have been thinking about the Martha Stroud record in the 1871 census that you found.
There was a Ann Stroud who was born to William and Martha Stroud in 1824 in Trowbridge.
Could you look up in the 1841 and 51 census for Ann and Martha Stroud please.
Regards
Graham
