How does he connect to your tree?
I had a quick look on IGI and on the 1861 census and have found a couple of possible matches.
But to look on the 1841 will need more info or it will take forever.

1851 census has John married with children -

Reg district Whitehaven
Sub reg district Harrington

He is in my stepmothers tree, he is her ggg grandfather, Iwas hoping to find who his parents were and any sibling he may have had. I can't find a marriage for him either.
But unfortunately I have no futher information that would help with a 1841
search.
