From http://baby-names.adoption.com/search/Cecilia.html Cecelia, Celia, Cecily, Cicely, Cissy, Sissy
(I did have a friend called Sissy - short for Sister, she had 6 brothers - I hope that's not yours )
Hattie I would think is a pet name for Harriet/Harriett

Thanks for the ideas Trish & Anne. That will give me a few more permutations to search on. I wonder if Hettie could be short for Henrietta also? Cheers gazza

Try google Gazza - together with words such as "meaning" "name". I did this with Cissy and got many hits - I only looked at the first one

I eventually traced my aunt Sissy only to find she was actually called Lucy.

Hettie could also be used for Henrietta.
I'm afraid I just called my big sister sissy - her real name bears no resemblance to sissy.

My aunt Cissy was really called Celia. I also had a friend called Hattie whose real name was Harriet.

Gazza I hope you aren't in Liverpool but I have a funny feeling you are
Here Cissie is often used for "sister" as Brud is for "brudder" (brother)
