Patience my ****, I'm going to press something...

Hi,
Could someone check the 1841 census please for Mary Ann Jordin, b 1839, Weston, Shropshire.
I need to find details of her parents, as by 1851 she was living with her gradmother in Staffordshire.
------ New information ---
I don't know if this helps any but having had a look at the original of the 1851 Census, I'm not at all sure the birth place is Weston. The original definitely gives Shropshire as the county, but the actual place is open to interpretation.
Any feedback at all would be helpful, even if you can't find anything. No replies at all can be dispiriting....
Many thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian
Don't know if you have found this information anywhere else by now, but what do you think about this?
In the 1851 I've found an Ann Jordin with a Mary Ann Jordin, grand-daughter, living in Chelmarsh, Shropshire. Is this the right one because you say she was living in Staffordshire.
This is probably her in 1841 - there is a George Jordin, 65, Farmer, Ann Jordin, 45, and Benjamin Jordin, 15, living together in Chelmarsh.
Also living in Chelmarsh, quite close together: John Jordin, 30, Farmer; Sarah, 30; John, 3; Mary, 2; Sarah, 1; Not Known, 1week. William Jordin, 25, Shoe maker; Ann Jordin, 25; Mary, 2; Eliza, 1.
So two Jordin families kindly named the daughters who were born in the same year Mary.
If you think these may be yours I can give the references.

Monica,
Thanks for the reply. It is my mistake, she was living in Shropshire, but I still can't find her immediate parents. Yes the Ann you found in 1841 is proably the grandmother in 1851, but there is still a generation missing.
It doesn't seem to be the John or William you found as their child Mary was still with them in 1851.
I may have to see if I can find the actual certificate, to solve this one.

I think the certificate is going to be the only way to be sure - but William's daughter Mary isn't with the family in the 1851, so maybe...

I'm not at all sure the birth place is Weston Place of birth is definitely Weston
Could be Weston-under-Redcastle (Wem registration district) http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/wem.html
Weston-under-Lizard (Shifnal registration district) http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/shifnal.html

Hi Adrian
I've had another look at the 1851. Mary Ann's grandmother, Ann Jordin, has an unmarried son, Joseph, aged 32, living with her. Could he be Mary Ann's father?
I can't find a Mary A or Mary Anne Jordin/Jordan born at the right time in the 1841 or a birth registration in that name. If she was illegitimate then she could be in the 1841 under her mother's surname.
