Hi Angie,
I can see this in 1891: RG12/2656 73 7 Mansfield Union Workhouse, Nottinghamshire Emma Raynor, single, 31, domestic servant, b. Cambridge March and a few lines underneath Margaret Raynor, under 1 mth, b. Notts Mansfield
Any use?

I can see nothing obvious looking at the 1861/71 censuses. I would be tempted to get Margaret RAYNOR's birth certificate (Mansfield registration district, volume 7b page 105) to make sure that the 1891 was correct when she was described as Single - if she were actually a Widow it would change many things. You can order the certificate online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/
Regards
David

In addition in 1861 living in Downham, which is not too far from March, was John and Rachel Rayner both 40, children Lizzey 11 b Sherham; Levi 3 and Emma 1 both born Downham.
But neither the censuses nor FreeBMD show an Emma born in March in 1860 +/-5 yrs
With nothing obvious to link your Emma to any of the possibilities you may need to consider moving laterally and get the birth certificate of the Florence who was born in March in 1886 - if you're lucky it might have been Emma's mother who registered the birth.

Hi Angie
You can order it online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/
She is registered as Florence Emily RAYNER in North Witchford Registration District volume 3b page 596 in the March quarter 1886
(as a safeguard you could specify that the certificate should only be issued if the mother is Emma)
These BMD details can be found at http://www.freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
Good luck
David
