Just noticed that this area headed under derbyshire,I wonder if anyone has info on Townsends of ecclesall bierlow,any info on George brown born 1874,or any other Townsends in this area.Thanks Smiley

Hello bobo,

I've looked at the Sheffield and District Family History Society website which says that Sheffield was divided into two registration districts when Civil Registration started in 1837. One ... the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district comprised of the townships of Ecclesall, Upper and Nether Hallam, together with the parishes of Norton, Dore and the liberty of Beauchief.

A post on Rootsweb in September 2006 refers to a William Henry Townsend who was born in 1856 marrying his first cousin, Emma Townsend from Kenilworth, Warks. Their marriage was registered in Jun Qtr 1878 at Ecclesall Bierlow.
