Can anyone give me info on an Alexander Lyttle (Little), married to Margaret Austin. Oldest in their family christened 1816, youngest 1832. Townland lived in is Cromaghy. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya Austin,

Griffith's Valuation. Co. Fermanagh 1862 shows no Austins in Fermanagh so I'd say Margaret came from either Co. Derry or Co. Donegal. The surname appears in several other counties but these are the most obvious ones. I hope this is of some help to you.

All the Best, Chris

Hello Austin,

What denomination were the Little (Lyttle) and Austin families?

You'll have to rely on Church records as your ancestors were born before Civil Registration was introduced in Ireland. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
