May I congratulate Ros Henry on her book "Find your family on the Internet" The first book I have seen which looks at discovering your european roots from this side of the globe, rather than in the UK,USA etc. I had the good fortune to spot this little treasure in a bookshop today and the even greater good luck to find a brand new copy waiting for me on the library shelves. I have only reached page 37 and have already discovered many useful hints and tips. I love the way it is set out with little notes in the margins to entice you into reading more.(not that I need to be enticed)and I have to agree with her comment that Rootschat is in a class of it's own as far a message boards go-no need to feel like an idiot when asking a question, which to the experts, has a simple answer.
For an "almost beginner" like me, it is a must have.I'm off to town tomorrow with my Xmas vouchers clutched in my hot little hand to get my own copy

I was lucky enough to get it for Xmas. Hubby heard Ros on the radio talking about her new book. It was published Oct/Nov this year so all the sites are up to date. A must have for Kiwi Genealogists Regards Carol
PS if you are around Ros Thanks for your book

"Show me the way to go home ..."
|
Hi all,
I have only recently discovered this thread - and have decided it was time to own up to being the author.
I'm delighted you like it; I had great fun putting it together.
You'll see in the acknowledgments that I found RootsChat a huge help - and I value the opinon of my peers!
There seems to be a slight problem of availability. If you want to buy the book, the best thing would be to ask your local bookseller to order it for you. If all else fails, or you don't have a local bookshop, it can always be ordered through the address below.
www.realgroovy.co.nz
I had fun before Christmas with MY local bookseller. He had six copies buried, spine out, in the computer and technology section. I quietly put them face out in the NZ non-fiction section (an old publisher's trick ...).
I'm hoping to do a revised edition before too long (eternal optimist) to fix the mistakes and catch up with the amazing number of changes since last October. I'd be delighted to get any feedback, suggestions, etc.
Thanks for your support,
Ros

This book is just fantastic! I came across it in Whitcoulls while on a quick trip out of the city and decided to treat myself. Could not put it down. As I had only gone away for 24 hours had not taken my laptop and was I frustrated. Thought I was familiar with the best of the NZ websites but many of those in the book are new to me. Have been tapping away most of the 12 hours since getting home and after several years of trying to find which ship a family came on -eureka!
