Gazzard links
« on: Thursday 05 January 06 21:00 GMT (UK) »

Hi
I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for any one with the surname Gazzard, who may have had descendants from the Woolwich, East Ham area of London. I am struggling to find any links with this family. I have them up to 1891 but despite a detail search cannot find them after that time. The names I have are Emily, Elizabeth, Edward, Joseph, parents Eli Willam and Susan, Emily was my GRt Grandmother whosa married name was Redding, and subsequently lived in the Lambeth area. If you are a Gazzard I would love to hear from you to determine a potential link
In anticipation

I have some information regarding Gazzard family - from the Klevedon - Essex area - are these the same line of Gazzard's?

Hi
Thanks for writing to me, in answer to your question,  To be honest I really dont know, All I really know is that Grt grandmother came from East Ham in Essex, the name from my research appears to be localised in the Essex and, Gloucester areas, so I wouldent rule anything out.

In 1898 in Bethnal Green a Robert Gazzard married a Jane George.

I haven't sent away for their marriage yet but I think that Jane was the sister of my great-grandfather, Henry George.

I think the same Robert Gazzard was a witness to the marriage of my g-grandparents, Henry George and Amelia Parker, in December 1901 in Bethnal Green.

According to the 1901 census, this Robert Gazzard was born about 1873 in Whitechapel.

Hi Josephine
Thanks for contacting me, I have not seen a Robert Gazzard in my Gazzards tree, but because the family has been difficult to trace I woul not rule anything out, be interested to see who his parents were

Hi, Jayne.

If I ever have the $$ to send away for the certificate, or if I try to track him in the census, I will try to remember to post the details.

Hi
Study the 1891 census, cannot be sure he is the right one, only his marriage cert can confirm, definetly him in 1901

Jayne,

I'm a bit fuzzy-headed at the moment (pain medication) but will check it out later, thank you.

I wish I had tons of money to send away for all the certificates I want!   Wink

Hi  Smiley

I have Gazzard links in the Shoreditch and surrounding area of London which I am currently researching.

My direct ancestors are:-

James Gazzard circa 1820 an Ivory Turner living in Shoreditch in 1844. He was married to a Sarah Priddie.

Robert Gazzard 1849 a French Polisher born in Shoreditch. He was married to an Elizabeth Granshaw.

James Gazzard 1886 a Labourer born in Bethnal Green. He was married to Jane Ward.

I don't know whether our Gazzards are connected but I do know how hard they are to research!! I will gladly try and help any other Gazzards and share info.
