Marriage cert query

Can anybody tell me if the fathers names would generally appear on a marriage cert in 1839?I haven't sent for one before the 1860s.

I have an 1839 marriage certificate which shows both fathers' names.

Post 1 July 1837 when civil registration was introduced, fathers' names were included on all marriage certificates.  However, nobody made it clear to some people that they were supposed to tell the truth!  Undecided
