Hi

I have found a birth of my gggrandfather born in locking and baptised 1 jan 1797 named william cavill ( in the records it spells it Cavel
it gives his parents names as John and Ann Cavel
The only marrige i can find in locking and surrounding is 16 april 1796 john Cavel and a nancy masters, I have been told that Ann was other name used for nancy?
would it be a safe bet that this is the marriage and that ann and nancy are the same person?Huh
I know that in 1801 there was only 102 living in the parish
