Local knowledge needed

Can anyone with local knowledge help, I am wondering where in Hertfordshire,  I would find Butchery Green, I have not been able to find any thing on goggle or on the maps for Hertford, could it possibly be a housing  area or farming area, would appreciate any information. Thanks

Another rootschatter sent me the information, via snail mail and it definitely says Butchery Green, on the Banns of the marriage for my 2nd greatgrandfather Samuel Searles and his wife Mary Ann Shorter, and as I couldn't find it on the maps I was wondering if someone could enlighten me.

Was the name of the parish Butchery Green?  Or was this the address of the one of one of them?

They married in the Parish of All Saints Hertford and were residing at the time in Butchery Green, just looking at some census records I've also had recently could it be Bulcherley Green, although it is clearly Butchery Green on the Banns. Thanks

A search for

butchery NEAR20 green

in a2a.org.uk brings up a large number of entries.

Scanning them seems to indicate that it is a small village and was once the site of a work house. It names the parish.

I think you must mean Butcherley Green, Hertford, Herts.

I have a rellie there in 1851 and he was a Butcher!
