Thank you for your kind offer. I suspect that the HARDINGs in the 1841 census are related to my ggg grandfather John HARDING. Unfortunately, by 1841, he was a young man working in Cornwall.
Perhaps some of his siblings and uncles remained in Buckland Brewer? Acutally come to think of it, my gggg grandparents might still be there then and not too old!
siblings Robert b C1814 (about 27) William (m Elizabeth) b C1815 (about 26)
uncles, etc. William b C1791 (about 50) John b C1793 (about 47) - my gggg grandfather- m. Elizabeth (nee MARTIN) b. C1791 (about 50) James b C1802 (about 39) Charles b C1804 (about 37) George b C1806 (about 35) m. Ann Joseph b C1808 (about 34)
There were HARDING women too, of course, but chances are they married under different surnames.
Are there many MARTIN entries for Buckland Brewer? My gggg grandmother and her siblings, (James, Henry, John, Thomas) seem to have all been born there in the 1780s.
The JUDD connection is further back still and I don`t have information on the family of Elizabeth JUDD who, in 1788, married William HEARDING (b C1767). Knowing that there are JUDD families there in 1841, however, might be an indication that her roots were there as well!
cheers
