Are there details of a census taken before WW11 (1938). Some time ago a relation sent me some details of the Clements family and I wonder whether this census is on-line somewhere.

Usually the census returns are not made available for 100 years. The latest available therefore is the 1901. The next, the 1910, will not be made public until 2010. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave
Thanks for the reply, I just wondered whether such a thing was lurking in a Rural Life Museum or similar or possibly on line. I remember being a Saturday girl around the 1970s in a Post Office and general stores and the electoral roll hanging up by the counter!

It seems like a good idea to have the Electoral Roll hanging up in the Post Office so letters etc could be delivered to the correct NAME even if the address was not right. I think that the census returns may be a little more strictly controlled but I'm willing to take advice on this. Cheers Dave
