My great-great-grandfather was Samuel Frith. One of his younger brothers was Charles Frith. Charles Frith was a spindle maker for most of his working life, but between 1851 and 1871 he did other jobs including being the publican of the Ivy Cottage public house, High Street, Dronfield. This pub was sited almost opposite the Blue Stoops in Dronfield and as the name suggests the building was heavily covered with ivy. It was closed in 1914 and demolished about 1955. Does anyone have any tales about the pub or Charles Frith?
