Here, Graham, who is doing the searching for whom I know the ref - just wondered if you'd grabbed it from the official 1901 site and didn't have details. I take it you have this family on earlier census. Is Joseph the J Husselby born Wolverhampton in Royal Marine Barracks, Plymouth Division in Devon on the 1861 census? Tricia You're doing a fabulous job. Clearing up stray family units into the larger family tree is really satisfying for me and this census searching is by far the best way with families moving all over the place.
I now have Richard b 1870 and his family in the 1891 and 1901 census. Haven't found Joseph and Mary in the 1881 and 1871 and 1861 census's yet. But they do exist in the 1851 census in Wombourn HO107/2017/379/30
I am afraid I don't know about the 1861 census for J Husselby in the Royal Marines. Please could me the details. It could be him as he didn't marry until 1863 in Wolverhampton.
Graham

I did have a quick look for Joseph and Mary together but you know what these Husselbee's are like! Still looking...... Ooops, I'm not going to find them together if he died in 1870. Need her details. Have you found any of their children on 1871? Are any of them young enough to be at home. If you haven't and they are - can I have their details for searching, please.
Is Mary on 1851 the daughter of William and Phoebe and born Wombourne?
Just asking because I found this on 1871(which you may well have) and wondered if they were her parents.
Entry for a Phoebe Huselbee b. 1868 granddaughter to William and Jane Corns

Tricia
Joseph and Mary had the following children:
Joseph b1863; Elisabeth b1865; Phoebe b 1867 and Richard b 1870.
I don't have the 1871 record which is clearly of Phoebe and no records of the Corns. All the children are registered in BMD Wolverhampton.
Regards
Graham

Certainly looks very possible. These and other census records show just how difficult life was in the 19th century.
Early deaths of the father of a family caused major problems for families, children being split from parents, led to illegitimacy and poverty.
Thanks so much Tricia.

Hi, I spotted the Husselbee name while looking for something totally different, but you might be able to help me. I am researching Thomas Henry Nichols born 1871 in Kingswinford. I have been unable to find anything about his birth, no sign of a certificate. In 1881 he was living witj John Cartwright in Wall Heath. He had a sister Mary, born 1867 Kingswinford. In 1871 she was living with Richard Husselbee in Brook St, Kingswinford. In 1881 she was down in Somerset with James and Elizabeth Cook, Elizabeth was born in Wombourne. I have a birth cert for Mary, giving her mother as Harriet Nicholls - no father recorded. Thomas Henry gives his father as John Nicholls on his marriage cert. Does anyone this make sense to you? Cheers, Dave Campbell

Hi Dave.
I have searched through my records and cannot find any connection with the Nicholls family. Richard did have 2 sisters who survived to maraige age and which I have no records of who they married.
They were Mary b 1807 and Emma b 1811 and died in 1839. Both were under the surname Husselbury and baptised in Himley.
Sorry not to be more helpful.
Graham
