Hiya,
Can you give me any details of any children born in Applegarth. I ask because the Applegarth OPR is weird compared to other registers. The guy (or gal) who kept it had to have been the first database designer lol.
It is in columns of info and it usually gives residence and sometimes occupations.
Cheers, Pam

Hi Welsh Chris,
I haven't had a chance to get on the films yet but I checked the MI for Applegarth & Sibbaldie kirkyard and no Toolan or variants - will try to get to the films soon.
Pam :-)

Apologies for the slowness in doing these look ups.
Right! Where do I start? Ok.
I can't answer your initial question on parentage or occupation, sorry but I do have a little bit extra you may not of had.
I found all Daniel and Jean's children - below is some more kids...
I've attached 2 images which join together, the overlap should be obvious? This is how the Applegarth OPR are laid out so the extra info is residence.
I've used a / to show the column breaks.
William/son of/Daniel Toulon/Jean Angus/Gayfield/April 6/1813
James/son of/Daniel Toulon/Jean Angus/Upperhall/June 19/1817
Janet born in 1819 was born at Upperhall, as was James 1822 & Annie 1824.
Thomas/son of/Daniel Toolon/Jean Angus/Milnhouse/Dec 12/1828
Your Jane is...
Jean/dau of/Daniel Toulon/Jean Angus/Milnhouse/May 4/1831
And John 1833 was born at Milnhouse.
I didn't see any births after that.
I did find 2 deaths...
James Toulan/Upperhall/March/9months/1818
_____ Toulan/Halls/March/3years/1823 There is no name entered
Finally the marriage states Daniel Toulson & Jean Angus of Gayfield
There is also a note after the 1775 baptisms obviously from the new encumbent saying that 12/3/1749 to 9/7/1775 records are badly kept he then starts his records from 13/4/1777 so if Daniel is local by the worsed luck that is the gap!
I hope the new children (if they were new) help you. The Scottish naming convention would have Daniel's dad as William and Jean's as James.
All the best in your digging, Pam
PS My Greens in Lochmaben I think were from Milnhouse as well. One day I will try to get property info - if I find anything connected to Toulan I'll track you down!
