Could someone help please? I am trying to find my great great great grandfather who we are pretty sure was living in the Bishopwearmouth district of Sunderland. He was born in 1846 give or take a year. He might have been married to Margaret in 1871 and they might have had a daughter Elizabeth ( all mights I'm afraid ) He was killed in an accident in S/land in Dec 1872 and Margaret nee Benneson gave birth to Robert ( son ) in Jan 1873. At the time of the birth they were living at 7 North Durham Street, Bishopwearmouth. Many many thanks

Thanks Mo
This Robert Dixon sounds like the Robert I found in the 1861 census RG09 Piece:3779 Folio: 81 Page:9
He was 16 then and a butcher and boarding with a Mary Moffat - Widow 54 - at 14, New Gray Street.
However the Robert I am trying to find died in 1872 on the 14th December 1872 aged 26. ( see above posting )
Unfortunately there seem to have been hundreds of Robert Dixons residing in that area at the time !!!
Thank you so much for your quick response and help but I don't think it can be the same man - what do you think ?

Sorry Mo but I had to just thank you first and then re-read.
On Robert's death certificate his occupation is stated as Waggon Man ( sic ) we had always believed he was a Dray Man for Vaux Breweries but it looks like we were wrong.
Have never been able to trace a marriage between Robert Dixon and Margaret Benneson but I think I have been looking in the wrong place. Very sad story actually - Robert died in Dec 1872 and Robert ( son of ) was born on the 25th Jan 1873.
Robert ( son of ) was subsequently orphaned and we think taken in by the Quakers in Sunderland. He was living with a William Richardson in the 1881 census at Sparks Farm, Bishopwearmouth - RG11/4994/53/99.
You have no idea how long I have been looking !!!
Thank you so much, my dad will be thrilled:-)
