Topic: Any info on Marmaduke Hauxwell, b.abt 1803 (Read 431 times)

Hi,
I'm looking for a Marmaduke Hauxwell in North Yorkshire. I know that in 1825 he married Mary Butterfield in Hornby Parish Church. In 1826 they had a son called William. In 1827 Marmaduke died aged 24, he was buried in Hornby Churchyard. The IGI gives me a match on age and name but it seems as though that MH goes on to get married and have children in the parish he was born (Masham). Neither Hornby or nearby Arrathorne has a baptism record for my MH. The only clue i have is that an Elizabeth Hauxwell was a witness at M&M's wedding. I'm presuming she is a sister of Marmaduke's.
If anyone has any clues about my Marmaduke i'd be interested in hearing from you.

Hi,
I think that's the 'other' Marmaduke i mentioned as it seems as though he goes on to get married and have children in Masham after 1827 (when my MArmaduke dies).

Just thought I'd post this of the 1851 census for NRY.
If you manage to put enumeration district and teh piece folio number together - you might just find some family members in the same house.
At a quick look you will at least see the "older Marmaduke was indeed very busy" and still alive in 1851

Hi my name is Jennifer Hawkswell.
I have posted this message on another link, but don't know which is more appropriate!
My great Grandfather was called Herbert Hauxwell. He changed the spelling of his name when he ran away from home in the beginning of the 1900’s. Herbert was born in Crakehall, Leyburn and quite a lot of his family were born in the same area. I was wondering whether there is any relation at all. I have come across Marmaduke Hauxwell quite a bit and there’s always a possibility that there is a connection somewhere along the way, but I have yet to find one.
I noticed that on Genes reunited there is a Paula, is this you? If so I will open my tree and send a request. I’ve also been looking into whether my ancestry crosses the path of Hannah Hauxwell (you probably have heard of her?!). My Dad’s auntie May is the absolute spitting image of her and seen as the spelling was originally Hauxwell we wondered if there was a connection. Do you have any information on her tree? Or know anyone or anywhere where I could find some more information out about her?

There is also the burial of Christopher Hauxwell in Hornby
5th March 1835 also aged 34.
