Hi Bobo,
check the tutorial for more FTP information: Topic: Tutorial: Step-by-Step Guide to building your website 6. Uploading to your site http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,93490.0.html
make sure there are no blanks in the file name, i.e. harding_family.html
... And make sure you also have an index.htm or index.html file with a link to harding_family.html
... And if still problems, keep asking

Hi Derck,
Well done ! well, that was the first step, and now it never stops !!!
But it's great fun
a couple of tips (I looked at your source text, with right-mouse click" and view source code"):
- you have two lines with
<IMG src="C:\My Documents\My Pictures\coa.gif"> change them to <IMG src="./coa.gif"> and load the coa.gif file to your website. Even better: create a directory images on your site, and keep all your images there. the code will then look like this:
<IMG src="./images/coa.gif">
- you haven't filled in your Title line yet
<META content="Enter Page Title Here" name=title> This is one line that search engines always look at, so put in something "telling" like "The Harding Family of Derbyshire"
I'm sure you'll think of lots of other things to do ... and if you get stuck, ask here !
Bob

Hi Derek,
I had another look at your page, and it looks like you have only edited the first img-tag
the first one now reads
<IMG src="./coa.gif"> which is OK and we can see the coat of arms, but the second one still says
<IMG src="C:\My Documents\My Pictures\coa.gif"> so it is still pointing to your computer.
So you can probably see both images, one on the website and one on your computer, but we can only see one image
make the second reference the same as the first and we will all see both !

Thanks for the encouragement, using Trellian to build the page.
Do i just add another page with adifferent name and save it in the index to link it?
Trellian is not very informative as to adding second page, it just seems to keep scrolling on the same page.
otherwise have you any reccomendations for a site to use as web builder?....not into html text yet!
Cheers, Derek
