The post i just made was 1871, they are the only family which fits with 1881 and 1901 apart from the approximate date you gave for Charle's birth?

David, This is great, thank you. My Charles just doesn't seem to tie in with the dates, being married in 1876 and being 32,41,54 in the 1881,1891,1901 census respectively. I know his father is George from his marriage certificate so it must be this George but I need to have a serious think about the age.
Thanks again, much appreciated.
Chris

The marriage was on 21st Oct 1876 at Chute, Wiltshire.
His wife is Caroline NEWMAN, she is said to be "under Age".
Charles is said to be "Full Age". So unfortunately, no help there. I believe I have Caroline's census return for 1861 but she is still at large in 1871. Possibly, in Wiltshire and not Hampshire.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions regarding Charles to tie him in.
Thanks
Chris

David, Thank you. With your help I believe I've finally got the right Charles in 1861 (Aged 15) and 1871 (Aged 25). I have his father George (Aged 24) in the 1851 census but without Charles. Maybe he is with his mother as he would only be about 5 or 6, or maybe he is still with his grandparents John and Elizabeth as he was in 1861. All the census records I have and his mother has not appeared once !! Would be useful to find George in 1841 (aged about 14)and 1861 (aged about 34). Never thought I'd get this far with this family as I've been struggling with them for months, until I fortunately stumbled on Rootschat !!
Many thanks for all your help.
Chris

Yes, I found that. Thank you. I've just thought, Charles mother could have died when he was very young; hence him being shifted from pillar to post.

Well i've had no luck with Charles in 1851 or George in 1861. I've had a quick look for John and Eliza in Berkshire in 1841 (don't have Hampshire) and can't see them. Would repost for a search in Hampshire for them in 1841.
I do have some parish marriage info for Hampshire which may help later on (early stuff) - come back to me if you need a search later
Good Luck
David
