Do you have in your tree a
Margaret Grigor born 1876, daughter of James Grigor (born abt 1850) and Mary Milne (born abt 1850).
They were from Elgin, Burghead and Urquhart. Margaret married a relation of my called Robert Cramond in abt 1902

anyone out there related to the grigors from duffus Not actually related, but Archibald Grigor, born 1833 in College of Roseisle, Duffus, parents George Grigor and Elizabeth Forsyth, married a relative of mine, Beatrice Leslie, in Elgin in 1861. They later emigrated to the USA and I have some contact with descendants.

ARE THEY ALL GRIGORS & ARE ANY OF THEM STILL ALIVE. None of them have the surname Grigor - they are all descended from the daughters of Archibald and Beatrice. There were only two boys, one of whom died in childhood in Elgin before they emigrated. I don't have any information about what became of the other one (Robert Leslie Grigor) after the 1880 US census, when the family was in Jefferson, Alabama.
Some of the descendants are indeed still alive. I have the e-mail address of a great-great-grandson of Archibald and Beatrice.

I've got some more Grigors to throw into the mix. These are from my mother-in-law's family and were all from Elgin I think.
Her grandfather was George Grigor (1832-1899) who left Elgin in the 1860s to work in Lord Gray's shipyards in Hartlepool.
His parents were James Grigor (1780 - 1862) and Isobel/Isabella Henry/Hendry. They seemed to stay in Elgin and I've found reference to James as a millwright and latterly as a crofter.
From James' death certificate I have the names of his parents as James Grigor (a farmer) and Janet Russell but apart from some possible children's names from the IGI I don't know anything more about them.
Do any of these names ring any bells?
Isobel
