Allcock Chipping Norton

Thank you all for going to so much trouble for me. I must confess to having access to a family bible. The bible begins with the marriage of John Allcock and Eliza Stacey( of Banbury ) at Holy Trinity, Stratford upon Avon in 1805. Witnesses Robert Barnes and William Stacey.

John Allcock ( a plumber ) and Eliza travelled quite a bit having children in Stratford upon Avon, Banbury, Daventry, Olney and finally Chipping Norton. Eliza died 2 weeks after giving birth to her 5th child at the age of 30. ( her baby boy died 14 weeks later ). John remarried 5 months after the death of Eliza to Emma ( ? surname )  in 1816 and they went on to have  a number of children.

With the help I have received from you all , I can confirm that John died in Chipping Norton in 1845 aged approx 63. Thus he was born about 1782.
Please bear with me as the plot thickens...

In one of his childrens Christening files ( confirmed by Bible ) John is referred to as John Watts Alkok. In 1774 a John Allcock married Sarah Watts in the parish of Barnwood, Glouster. Could they be Johns parents? Hence the reason I was so keen to know Johns birthdate. Barnwood does however seem an awfully long way from Chipping Norton etc.

Anyway I just wanted to give you all a wee bit more background -I should have done so from the start. I have a number of connecting surnames in the bible - should anyone be interested.

I truely am greatful for all the advice and help you have given this novice genealogist. What a great bunch!

From the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837), here's John's second marriage:

18 JAN 1816 - John ALLCOCK (Chip. Nor.) (w) to Emma DRAPER at Salford
