London Placenames - a rough guide to alternative usage

I’ve put together a select rough guide to ‘alternative’ place names for ‘London’ which might be useful for those not familiar with the local geography. 

This is NOT an official list (see for instance  http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/reg/lnd.htm#clon ) and is not scientific but might be useful in addition to official sources.  Instead it indicates some of the place names which are commonly used interchangeably usually due to proximity, especially as birthplaces on census entries.  The names are sometimes those of the parish, sometimes sub-districts and sometimes unofficial but ‘popular’ names for districts.  The list runs very roughly east to west, with south of the Thames last.
