The Index is just that - all it does is list the two parties, the parish, the year, and, if it's stated in the parish register, whether or not either party is from another parish and whether they're a widow(er).

The full index entry reads
1809 Joseph Pentelow of Dean  Eliz Newman  at Kimbolton

So if Joseph was a widower and that was noted in the parish register then it should have been mentioned in the index.

An 1809 marriage would not show fathers, just witnesses, but you need the parish register for that sort of detail. They would be available at the Records Office in Huntingdon, or they have also been filmed and are available on microfilm at your nearest LDS Family History Centre

Hi

Regarding the marriage entry you gave me yesterday at Kimbolton in 1809 you said of the marriage index'
It give you the names of witnesses  who was present  at the time.

I wonder whether its something I've overlooked on and perhaps you can tell the names of the witnesses present which might help me to identify the couple involved.

No, I said the index does NOT give witnesses.

You need the Parish Register for that sort of detail

Hi LJ

1828 Francis m Elizabeth Darlow widow
1779 James m Ellinor Thorp

Both at Holywell cum Needingworth

I couldn't see any other James anywhere near the likely date

It's preferable to start a new thread with new lookups

Regards
