Wallin family and Wroxton Mill
« on: Saturday 14 January 06 20:08 GMT (UK) »

Wondered if anyone might have any connections with the Wallin family or any info on Wroxton Mill where they lived from1850,s to 1870,s. James and his wife Maria lived there with their 11 children. Their youngest daughter is my gt grandmother.I would be grateful for any info on area or family. Smiley

Hi

Apart from the query re: area - would you like help looking for the Wallin family on the various censuses or do you already have that information?

Thanks for the offer Carole  Smiley
They were some of my easiest relatives to find on the census' as they stayed in the same place. Was hoping to find a living relative or some-one with info on the area. Many thanks anyway  Grin

I am just in the middle of researching the Wallin family and have traced from James & Maria Wallin (Wroxton Mill - 1851 census) via his children and particularly their son James (married to Sarah Ann) through to Edith May Wallin b. 1891. Edith May Wallin married Sidney Thompson and is my wifes' grandmother. I have all the details of the male lines from 1851 to 1901. I would be very interested to compare notes with anyone tracing this family tree. I am especially interested in finding information relating to Sarah Ann Wallin from 1901 onwards.   Roll Eyes

There is an interesting article by Olive Webb on the Cadd Family who lived in Wroxton and this gives a good insight into the history and area of Wroxton - may be worth a read. The website is :- http://home.clara.net/drericwebb/oaw-web/oaw-mems.htm

Hi Welham,
Brilliant to hear from you as this is my mums side of the family and she hasn't had any luck finding anyone out there to help her with her tree until now!  Smiley
I have been tracing thru my connection which is from James and Maria's daughter Jane thru to my mum and myself. Jane is  my gt grandmother. I hoped that there would be someone else out there tracing this line as there must be loads of Wallin's out there  Grin
Maybe you could get in touch with us via personal messages, look forward to hearing from you.

I've just driven down to Wroxton Mill today. You'll find it on the road from Wroxton to Shutford. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful place. My great, great grandmother was Matilda Wallin (Daughter of James & Maria). Unfortunately the mill that stood opposite was destroyed 30 years ago but the house still exists & is in fine form. Its worth a visit to Balscote Mill near Shuttford.
The owner is friendly & willing to show you his Mill which he is currently restoring. The 2 mills are linked  & are said to have been very similar. Wroxton is also worth a visit. Stunning village.

What is the name of your ancester?

Hello Markishy,
Matilda Wallin b.1864 (daughter of James & Maria) is the sister of James Wallin (Junior, b.1857 married to Sarah nee Tustain) and he is my wifes' great grandfather. I am particularly interested to find out any information on Sarah Wallin post 1885. If you have any photos of the house and village where the Wallins lived I would be grateful of any copies. I have details of the family tree from James Wallin (senior, b.1818 in Marston St. Lawrence) to present day via his son James. I also have photos of James Wallin senior and junior which I could email to you. It would be easier to swap information via email. Mine is :- j.fielden2@ntlworld.com . I look forward to hearing from you.
