Mills Family of Newry
« on: Monday 16 January 06 20:57 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for any information on Joseph Mills a tinplate worker of Newry.Joseph is my Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandfather.I do not know the name of Joseph's wife but in 1834 in Newry she gave birth to my Gt.Gt.Grandmother Sarah,I would welcome any information on Sarah also.
Sarah travelled to Liverpool and in 1854 aged 20 she married my Gt.Gt.Grandfather James Smith.
This then is the full extent of my knowledge of my Mills ancestry, which I have neglected for far to long.I do hope someone reading this may be able to offer some help.Thank you.

Further to my earlier posting I now believe that the wife of Joseph Mills was Elizabeth Elliott the daughter of a shoemaker,I further believe that Sarah Mills the couples daughter was born in Newry in 1837.The family left Ireland for England about 1838/39.
Any and all information most gratefully received.
Thank you

Hi Suz,Many thanks for taking the trouble to look up my Mills ancestors.First of all yes, that is the family I am talking about, but it is possible I may have misled you.I know all about the family once they arrived in England, the information I am looking for is about the family in Ireland,in Newry,in Co.Down generally and before 1838.
Once again please accept my thanks for your efforts,it really is very much appreciated.
