John Gunn (Junior) married Betsy Gunn in Durness on 1st November

sorry everyone,
I managed to post that last query before it was finished.
John Gunn ,senior, married Margaret McAskill. I have no dates.
John, Junior, married Betsy Gunn 1st November 1851 in Durness
He died in Durness in 1894 and in the SR the parents are Margaret & John,Senior.
No record at all in Scotlands People, the IGI or Highland Hearts.
Can anyone please direct me to anywhere else.

your john gunn junior, looks like he was married twice!!!! first to isabella ross on the 23rd march 1835.

a wee check says that mary was christened Merran Gunn on the 8th Dec 1835, Peter was christened Peter Ross Gunn on the 16th June 1838, thomas was christened thomas Gunn on the 1st Feb 1841, dollina was christened Doll Gunn 14th July 1845, and lastly it looks like Margaret was christened Peggy Mc Diarmad Gunn on the 3rd October 1843.

Thanks for your information. Most of it I have now but I didn't follow up on Margaret Ross, who must have been the sister of Isobel, John Gunn's firat wife.
Margaret McAskill and John Gunn are the parents of John Gunn.
John, husband of Isobel and Betsy, died 21st january 1894 and the parents are given as John Gunn and Margaret McAskill.
I have scribbled down here that John Senior died 1842 but, being me, I can't see at the moment where I got this information from.
John Junior had a problem with his age and Birth place.
He says on most occasions he was born in Lanarkshire also gives
Durness as Birth Place.
DOB could be from 1802-1817
S0 if you have any ideas I would appreciate them.
McCaskill appears to be a Sutherland name but I just can't connect her to any of the others.
I have tried all the variations of the spelling.

Mary STEWART. At the age of <1, Mary was baptized in Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland, on 2 Mar 1812. 54 Born bef 2 Mar 1812 in Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland. Was on the census for Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland, in 1851. 55 age 36. Was on the census for Lochinver To Inverkirkaig, Sutherland, in 1881. 56 age 60; widow. Mary died in Inverkirkaig, Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland, on 9 Jan 1895; she was 82. 57 age given as 81. Cause of death: Bronchitis Acute.

thank you for that information. I think that Peggy is too young but I will check when I get home. I am sitting in a Motel room at present and I love my Lap top because I can check out Rootschat and my mail
