Joette,

I could only find him in the 1841. I hope a bit of this helps. This person for birth year of 1822 was the only Waddell / Wadel which was 1822 - none others came close that I could tell. There was a 4 year old Graham child in the same neighborhood as where these three lived. The child was in a household with people of other surnames. He was the only Graham.

George Robertson, b. approx. 1820, age 21
Occupation: Agricultural Lab.

Alexander Waddel, b. approx. 1822, age 19
Occupation: Agricultural Lab.

James Reid, b. approx. 1827, age 14
Occupation: Agricultural Labourer

The three in this household were each born in Perthshire, living at Cranley.

Cheers & thanks for that.I suspect it is him.Ann Graham was living in Auchterarder with her Mother Isabella B Graham-ind.Jane Graham-her sister,Christine Campbell 10 & Jane Graham-1.
This is a really convoluted family. The above adult Jane I think died between 1841-1851-she is certainly dead by the time her daughter Christine Campbell marries in 1858.In the 1851 Census Ann is living in Auchterarder still & with her is Jane-10-enumerated as her daughter but I think is the above Jane her niece,James Cooper -5 & Thomas Waddell-2.
When Jane marries a Gibson she gives her parents as Jane Graham & William Sommerville(I think). My Great-Grandfather John Waddell is living with her& her family in NewKilpatrick for the 1881 Census as a boarder. My Grandfather was always led to believe that she was his Aunt & my GGrandfather & his sister Margaret were living there when they married.
William was living with James Cooper in 1881-James was enumerated as Waddell in the 1861 Census. His Mother had just died & Alexander died five years later leaving them orphans.
Thomas died of TB in 1871,Alexander fell between the wheels of a train on which he was the Goods Guard in 1873,James Cooper died in 1888 when the jib of a crane fell on him when he was repairing a railway bridge in Coatbridge-he was a stonemason like my GGrandfather.Margaret died childless & William went toUSA & as far as we know never married/had children.
So my GGGrandfather remains a mystery-I think that is him in 1841 but can't prove it-don't know his parents names but think his Father is Alexander-no sign on the 1851.
What was the name of the Graham child in the other household please?

Thanks for that esp. the Isabel Graham one I haven't seen that before.
If she was above 15 she could be a sister to Jane & Ann.
