Hi Charby

Are you doing a One Name Study on the entire family name or are you just after information on these particular individuals?  Smiley

If the latter is the case I will gladly move the post for you to a more relevant board which may help to generate a response for you.   Please let me have any information on possible locations (County etc.) so I can place it in the right board.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Bringing some of these back to the surface for some air...Please all note that they are old postings and so you may want to wait for an answer from the original poster before replying...   J.J.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Both the forename & surname are plentiful, but if you know the age and location where Katherine was born someone might be able to help you...What year were they married? Do you have them on a Canadian census together?  If you have the answer to any of these questions, let us know....  Cheesy  J.J.
Hi again J J, Well since you are so good at this, I shall see what else I can add on , maybe it will help. All I was told was that katherine/catherine was born in england and that she married CHARLES GODIN.they had a child amoung others, but his name was EUGENE CHARLES GODIN.I was told he might of been born in the united states.So maybe katherine went to the states and married CHARLES then came to canada Huh? EUGENE was born 24 april, 1911.
I hope this helps.
thank you for interest.
Oh, sure...pressure! Roll Eyes Grin  Shocked
ah, I see your problem...Goodness, my Grandfather was born 20 years before your grandfather!!!   Roll Eyes  Tongue  Undecided  Oh, dear I suddenly seem so old!
He barely made the census here, then...it started in June so he'd be just a wee newborn. We'll check Canada, first....but if he was born in the U.S. then he wouldn't be on one until the 1920... I wonder why the family didn't share a little more with you....or have the odd certificate or document lying about  Roll Eyes
Let's see if we can't find where he was born before we move on, then ...No promises. The further into the century the harder the find....   This varies by Province
I also meant to ask if you have their death certificates or obits as there is sometimes little information, sometimes a lot...J.J. in this case every little bit helps, to be sure. J.J.
I think this is a case of trying to rush back too far, too fast, seeing as you're not sure of where Eugene came from. Concentrate on getting more on him (is he your grandfather?) and information on his parents will come after that.
What do you know about the son, Eugene? Other than that he may have been born in the US or perhaps Canada - where did he live later on, marry, die?
Judging from the censuses, the name Godin is most common in Quebec and NB (not surprising for a French surname).
Hi, jorose, have p.m.'d for some help on the U.S. side...Have also asked for help again today rather than sending the thread there, as we aren't sure where the posting belongs as yet...
I looked through several versions of the name on the 1911 Canada census...so far no Eugene or Charles of that age ( c.1904)
but am waiting before I do too in-depth a mistranscription search...
Plus they may even have been Nfld.
Charby indicated no other information other than what is here....but perhaps some digging into other family members might turn up more?
A dear darling person, who seems to chose to be anonymous.... Wink
has checked inside and out and up and down in the U.S. censuses, and nothing there...So will fine-tooth comb the Canadian census once again...
Some times, I swear, some ancestors just did not wish to be found.... Roll Eyes
If he was born U.S. , then they came up here...( how long until 2013?)  Tongue
reading this again..."among others" means more children, so could you name them as well please, just in case we can see a record of them somewhere......(and then go grill some family members for some more history)  Grin   J.J.
