Hi, i`m trying to work out how long George Farmer kept the Swan Inn at Pembridge, i know the family were there in 1879 but not in 1881, how long before 1879 ? maybe someone with trade directories or access to 1871 census might be able to assist ? many thanks.

In Littlebury;s Directory of 1868 there is no mention of the Swan Inn. but a Joseph Farmer is the farm bailiff for Thomas Turner of Court of Noke.
The Swan was more of a beerhouse than an Inn, and was located opposite the school in West Street. thre are apparently photographs of it takne by Alfed Watkins [of old Straight Track fame] and some infoormation as to when it was open.
