Does anyone have any knowledge of the Ahern family who used to run a forge in Catherine St, Limerick, in the mid 1800s?

Did you get the references to them in the trade directories:
Ahern,    Thomas, Trade     Smiths, Address Catherine Street,1840 Triennial Page     50
Ahern, Thomas, Trade     Ironmongers & Hardware men, Address 13 Catherine Street,    1846 Slater's Munster Page 274
Ahern, Thomas, Trade     Smiths, Locksmiths & Bell-Hangers, Address 13 Catherine Street,    1846 Slater's Munster Page 277

Thanks Sharon, that is very interesting.  If you have any Ahern connections, do you know where I can find information on Jeremiah Ryan (my GGGrandfather), who worked for Thomas Ahern (also my GGGrandfather - his son married Thomas' daughter)?

I don't know where you could find information on Jeremiah, he wasn't on the trade directories.
