Good Morning

Having been born, lived and worked most of my life in Petersfield I have just found out that it hasn't always been listed as being in the county of Hampshire.

Is this just an error or was it once part of Sussex?

I know we are right on the border so I guess a mistake is understandable but if it was once in the county of Sussex it may go some way to explaining why I am having trouble tracing some BMD records.

Many Thanks
Adrian

Adrian,

Petersfield the parish has always been in Hampshire I believe.  However, Petersfield registration district included parts of Sussex.

This may be where the confusion arises.
