South Australia Assisted Immigrants
« on: Sunday 22 January 06 06:38 UTC (UK) »

I searched the South Australia Archives website and found what I believe to be the arrival of my ancestors.
I couldnt find any information on how you can get copies of this information if you were not able to physically go to South Australia & view it.
Does anyone know what sort of information you are likely to see on these records? - arrival date was 1854
Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Hi Fern
I am not able to advise you but at the top of this Emmigrants board is an offer from Shanko who has wonderful South Australian resources.  Is there a way you can direct her attention to your enquiry and get her help?

Hi Fern

I'm in the South Australian State Library at least two full days a week.

I have easy access to Application for Free Passage to South Australian records.

The records are photocopies of the ORIGINAL applicaion details.

e.g.  Name of person/s, age, marital status , occupation, and place of residence.

e.g.  John Smith aged 24 years, single, occupation labourer, applied for a free passage.  Application No. 4698 and embarkation No. 3409

Just an example.

If you want me to look up the application for someone/ more than one person, just send me the names and I will be happy to look it up for you.

Regards
