Can anyone see James and Edward Pilley living in Hereford ( Possibly High Town) in 1861? They would both be about 24 years old.

Hallo, Bob
No sign of them in Herefordshire in 1861, but there is:
RG9/1835, Ludlow, folio 94 page 28 High Street, Ludlow, Shropshire Edward S (or J?) Pilley, 23, unm, Draper's assistant, Hereford St Peters - living with Herbert Johnston, draper, the Johnston family, 3 apprentices and 2 servants
There are 3 James PILLEYs on the census - two were born in Yorkshire and one in Lincolnshire. I had a look on the Wales census, but no luck there.
Do you have any more info - e.g. occupation?
Regards Philip

Philip Since posting this request I have found the brothers in 1881 living in High Town Hereford and working as Drapers. Edward was listed as Edward Joseph. RG11 2593/83 Page 7 In 1851 their mother, Mary, lived in High Town Hereford working as a Draper. James was a Drapers assistant. HO107/1978 Hereford Folio 45 Page 36 I had assumed (never a good thing to do) that the brothers had taken over the family business which I guess they did sometime before 1881.
The Edward you found looks spot on. Is it possible to have the full listing?
Many thanks
Bob

Philip
Thanks for the info. I found William living in Bridport Dorset. After the death of their mother the family just scattered.
Regards
Bob
