WW2 Navy Death
« on: Sunday 22 January 06 19:35 UTC (UK) »

Hello
Can anybody out there help. I am trying to obtain a death certificate for Able Seaman Ronald Boardman who died 8th Sept 1944 on board SS Empire Heritage Merchant Navy.

I have just discovered that Ronald has no grave but is listed on Tower Hill Memorial in London. I have tried looking for a GRO reference in the overseas section on 1837online but had no luck. Maybe there is no death certificate to find!
All ideas welcome.

Hi,

Try the national archives at Kew www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

They have a lot of info there, a bit of a confusing site to get round, but you may find something.

Best of luck

Trueblue,

You will find a very interesting website if you google as follows:
"ronald boardman" sandanger

I don't know if this is your Ronald Boardman, but the similarities are striking.

You can see commemoration on commonwealth war graves commision.
R. Boardman age 23 son of Robert and Edith Boardman Liverpool.
Perhaps you can contact them for death certificate information.
