I have William Herbert Beszant b. 1856 Chippenham, Wiltshire married Emily Beatrice Wheatland 1909 in Corsham, Wiltshire. Emily born 1888 in Corsham daughter of Robert Wheatland & Amelia Sophia Selfe.  William & Emily had 2 sons, Robert (Bob) & Herbert.  Don't know much else for the Beszant side, but do have a photo of Emily & sons if you're interested.

Hi,
Your William Herbert b 1856 is on my Beszant pages on the website, though I have not updated the recent information for him.
You will see there is a fairly extensive background on his ancestors, if you are interested.
I have 1881, 1891 & 1901 census details for him. From these it seems he was married before his 1909 marriage.

March Q 1882 Chippenham 5a/83 to Edith Amy F Austin; born about 1862 in Chippenham.

They had 3 children -
William H b. abt 1885
Ethel A B b. abt 1888
Jessica D b. abt 1890

I haven't yet found a death for Edith, assuming she did die. Though as you don't mention these children, it could be that she didn't?

Does this ring any bells?

Interesting!

I have been trawling through the BMDs and can find no death for Edith Beszant between 1901 and 1909.

Any thoughts?

I don't have anything on Edith & children - so thanks for that.

My interest is more in the Wheatland line.  My uncle and another rellie in Worlebury were corresponding with Bob (Robert) Beszant and his wife, Ena, for a number of years, but all I have in the way of info from that is unsubstantiated and is from late 1970's and early 1980's.

The rellie in Worlebury was told by Bob that his father had owned half of Corsham - presumably his farming land, but there is no mention of exactly what was owned or where.
