Hi Lesley  Wink

no, Anne is buried where she died, at Scarborough.

None of the other Brontes have gravestones as such, as they were buried in the family vault in Haworth church.

I haven't got any famous grave pics ... so am bascially 'book-marking' ... keep them coming; this is interesting stuff !

Hi Lydart: Can you keep a secret? Neither do I.  Wink I knew that Houdini was buried in New York, and when I searched for him and found that today is the anniversary of his passing on (maybe), I thought it was morally okay to "find" a picture.

Thanks for your reply Judy. I feel really ignorant - I hadn't realised Anne died in Scarborough, where my maternal ancestors were born (though I've never been there). I have been intending to visit Whitby for the last two years, to see a friend, but things keep happening . . .

Hopefully I'll make it next spring. Do you know the name of the graveyard Anne's buried in? I'd love to see it.

Thanks
Lesley

Not quite OT ... there's supposed to be a photo of Jim Morrison's grave, in France ... which seems to show his ghost!  Shocked

Apparently the pic's been studied and investigated ... and the "goss" is that they can't find anything tricksy about it, ... !

Not famous, but certainly unique! Seen in Boxhill, Surrey.

If you do a search on Google images for "unusual graves" or "interesting graves" you'll find some other  amazing ones - I've got quite a collection now.  Grin

The grave is at St Kentigern Churchyard, Crosthwaite, Cumbria, England

Hi Lesley  Wink

Anne is buried in St Mary's churchyard - a lovely place on the cliffs overlooking the sea.

Maybe she is buried near one of your ancestors!!

Well worth a visit I would say! Hope you make it!!

Thanks Judy. Have found a cemetery near to St Mary's hospital, which I think may be the right one - but will check online. Fingers crossed I'll be able to make it - my mum always speaks fondly of Scarborough.
