Hi
Trying to find mother and siblings of Henry STAIRMAND, who married Frances DENISON, June 16th 1852 in Bedale. I know his father was John STAIRMAND, a gardener, but that is the extent of my information regarding this person. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Karenlee

Hi Oly
Many thanks for the information on the STAIRMAND family in 1861. I will do some hunting and see if I can make a solid connection with what I know.
Cheers Karenlee

John Stairman 34 Catterick, Head Gardener Jane Stairman 33 Wetherby, Wife Catterick, Johnson Stairman 3 Galloway, Scotland Son Henry Stairman 26 Lodger Journeyman gardener
Gomersal Yorkshire Ho107 2323
This is the only Henry I could find - can't think why they would be over in Gomersal and he is listed as lodger so I'm not sure its the right people, but being as theres a John and he's a gardener I thought it was worth letting you know. Though it would appear that this John and Henry are brothers.
Anyway hope it helps
Susan

Hi Susan
Many thanks for both those leads. I am going to start checking up on them straight away. I do know that my Henry's eldest son was John Thomas, and his eldest daughter was Ann. So that makes your second suggestion pretty useful. It appears that STAIRMAND, and it's many variations, was a fairly common name in that part of Yorkshire and in Durham as well. Still, it's not as bad as GREEN or SMITH.
Cheers Karen
