I'm trying to find the parents and siblings of Peter Phillips Vaughan born in Flintshire in 1851.

He had a brother Abel born in 1841 and I think a sister Mary P. Vaughan but am unsure of her date of birth.

If anyone could help track down his parents I would greatly appreciate it.TIA.

Hello, after a lot of searching I have come up with these possibilities.
Firstly I don't know whether you have Peter VAUGHAN'S family but I found this on 1891 census for Toxteth Park Lancs.

Peter VAUGHAN Head 40yrs green grocer mgr B: Flintshire
Elizabeth           Wife   30                                      Holyhead
Julia A                Daur  16                                      Liverpool
Peter H              son    11                                      Ormskirk Lancs.
Margaret J          daur   8                                           "             "
George H           son     6                                       Liverpool
Edith                  daur   3                                           "

In 1861 census Trecastle Denbighshire
Elizabeth VAUGHN  head B: 1815    CWM Flintshire
Joseph                son   B: 1841        "          "
Mary                    daur B: 1853 Tremeirchion Flintshire
Peter                   son  B:  1857         "                "

In 1881 census living at Market Row Ormskirk Lancs.

Peter P. VAUGHAN     Head   M   Male   30      Provision Dealer & C
Elizabeth VAUGHAN   Wife   M   Female   29      Wife
Julia A. VAUGHAN      Daur      Female   6   Liverpool, Lancashire   Scholar
William A. VAUGHAN   Son      Male   4   Liverpool, Lancashire  Scholar
Peter H. VAUGHAN    Son      Male   1   Liverpool, Lancashire
Elizabeth BURNELL    Mother In Law   Widow   Female   59

from this it would appear that Peter's wlfe's maiden name was BURNELL

On BVRI I found this marriage -
William VAUGHAN M: 1st Jan 1835 in Overton Flintshire to Mary WALL.

I don't know if any of this will make sense or be of any use but good luck with your search.
Kind Regards

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your postings, which are relevant. Peter Philips Vaughan and the "Abel" which you posted are brothers. My difficulty has been stepping back a generation to find Peter & Abel's parents.

My grandmother Edith Vaughan ( Peter's daughter) always said she was born in Holyhead but it seems clear that her birth has been recorded as Liverpool., which has made the search harder.

Peter Phillips Vaughan, Abel and sister Mary are supposed to be from Cwm, Flintshire but the local registry offices can find no trace of them and thus I have no birth certificates to which I can refer.

One of your 1861 Census postings seem to suggest that Peter & Abel's mother might be Elizabeth Vaughan, which is new to me. It's possible, given the writing of the times, that Peter's date of birth listing as 1857 could be 1851 the year of his birth.

The marriage between William & Mary seems to be an unrelated event unless Peter's father was William's brother perhaps.

It's a pity that these records aren't more help but thanks for taking the time and trouble to look through them. It is greatly appreciated.

Best wishes
