Hi, I'd be really grateful if you could look at the Barnard Castle records for me.

I have a John Hansell b. c 1811 marrying Mary b. c 1815, their first child was born 1837 so I guess marriage 1830 to 1837. John was from Glaisdale in North Yorkshire but Mary was from Barnard Castle, and they were in Barnard Castle for many years so I think they married there! I'd love to find any information on Mary as I don't know anything else about her.

Many thanks

Hi Vicars Wife,
Will you please look on your database for the name Lindsay. I believe the family lived mainly in Houghton Le Spring.
Any help is appreciated

Hi all
Vicar's Wife has not been online for a few weeks and an earlier post says she has not been well so bear with her if you do not get an immediate reply.    You may find Durham records online helpful or put a separate request on the Durham Look Up board with the parish etc in the title and some other rootschatter may be able to help you.

Hi Fernvic

Family search has the marriages you are looking for as

William Batey/Ann Mclish married 15th May 1837 Lanchester Durham

John Noble/Mary Kirkley 7th March 1842 St Andrews Auckland.

You might be able to find their marriages in the parish records.

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html? Clickon where it says Euope and scroll down to England,Diocese of Durham Bishops Transcripts. Maureen

I use that to find my husbands family

Hi,
I don't know if you go back as far as 1750 but I am still looking for a marriage between Robert Meggison and Hannah someone. I am not sure where the marriage took place but they had 6 children baptised between 1759 and 1769 at St. Edmund the Bishop in Sedgefield while they were resident at Hardwick Mill.  Then there was a marriage of a daughter Hannah born in 1852 to Ralph Bell.  That marriage was in Nov. 1773 at St. Edmund, the same year as Robert remarried to Jane Davison (in June)
I have searched extensively for the first marriage of Robert and also for his birth, both of which escape me.  Robert's monumental inscription says that he was from Hardwick Mill and he died Aug 7, 1792, aged 62 years.
Would be ecstatic if you were able to find this marriage.

Hi Peggy
I can't find a marriage for Robert Meggeson and Hannah in Sedgefield. The only one I can see in Family search is for Robert Meggeson and Hannah Dunwell 19th June 1769 Kirk Hammerton Yorks. So I don't think that would be the one.

If you click on the posting I sent to Fernvic,a couple back from this posting, you will see the link for the Parish records.
Sedgefield only starts from 1769.One of Robert and Hannah's daughter's Baptism's is there. Dorothy Meggeson Baptised 5th Nov 1769.You will find that on  Page 3  Sedgefield.

Also on page  11 you will find the marriage for Robert Meggeson and Jane Davison.26 June 1773.

You might be able to find the other children of Robert and Jane on there as well.
The marriage for Hannah Meggeson and Ralph Bell  married 28 Nov 1773 are on page 11 as well.

There is a death for Hannah ..wife of Robert Meggeson  buried 7th May 1773.also on page 11

Hope that helps.Maureen

Thank you Maureen and Roger. I did find some records post 1769 but I had those already. Which library would you be referring to, Roger. I live in Canada.
Thanks again
