Hi,

If possible could you check if you have a marriage for a Robert Walker (b c 1797) and an Elizabeth (b c 1807).

Robert born Durham (all I have)  Elizabeth born Hetton le Hole.

Their first son Christopher born and christened 1826 Hetton le Hole, so presuming that's where they married.

Thank you for your time,

Dear Vicars Wife

I have been looking for a marriage of Jane MAUGHAM who I believe is a 3 x gt aunt, bn abt 1806 sister of Alexander bn Sherburn 1805 (Mar Dinah ROSS GRAY) and Matthew MAUGHAN Houghton Le Spring 1809 Mar (Mary TAYLOR) their parents Matthew MAUGHAM and Esther FORD.  I haven't found this marriage yet!

Other names KELLETT, ROSS, GRAY, ARMSTRONG any MAUGHAM marriages??

My family tree was deleted by my son when updating my computer!!  I believe I had found a Jane MAUGHAM!!  I started putting into Family Tree Maker in 1994 when I began my research.

Hello!

Do you have anything for Forsyth (Lumley or Chester le Street) or Beany (Washington, Usworth, newbottle or maybe Sedgefield). Both families moved round the area quite a lot, but didn't tend to move out of the area!

Thanks

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the info.  Am I right in presuming that was her MAIDEN name?

Hi Joan

That was her name at the time of marriage (i.e. she was a Walker before she married Robert) - from the index I don't know if she was a widow or whether it was her maiden name.
You would have to get someone to check the register to find that out.

Hi Joan

No problem

You can get free access to the George Bell Index on the Genuki site under the church records section - quite a lot of the Durham parishes are available for certain dates.

Hello, again, Is there any Heslops in the Churches you mention. I think I've had Heslops living in most of the towns nominated. Happy new year!! Ron H.

Hi Vicars wife could you please look on your database for:-

Cleminsons who lived in Stanhope marriages to Smith, Vannen and  Headley and
Lindsays who lived in Houghton le Spring (1800 - 1900)

That will do for now as my whole research is based around mainly Durham and some in Cumberland - thanks for any help you can give

From the George Bell Index for Stanhope to 1837:

9 Jun 1800  Thomas Clementson = Elizabeth Vanin
18 Aug 1808  Henry Thompson = Ann Clemison
23 May 1813  Thomas Wilkinson = Ann Clemmison
24 Aug 1822  Joseph Maddison = Barbara Clemison
9 Dec 1823  William Clemison = Hannah Hill
18 Mar 1826  Thomas Clemison = Jane Whaley
24 May 1834  Alexander Cleminson = Sarah Ord

Hope this helps
