CUTTER
« on: Monday 20 September 04 20:30 BST (UK) »

Hi  Smiley

Just found another name connected to my tree.  Would love to hear from anyone also interested in the surname CUTTER.

I have a William CUTTER born c1831, George Wilson CUTTER born c1834 & Elizabeth Moore Milne CUTTER born 18 Jan 1837 all Bishopwearmouth Sunderland.  Their parents are believed to be William CUTTER born 22 Sept 1796 & Ann WILSON born c1799.

Looking to build on this information and also share what I have with interested parties.

Regards
Sue

For interest, I also have Cutters in my family tree based in Sunderland.
Margaret Cutter was born 26th November 1786 to parents John and Susannah Cutter  and had siblings-
Mary, christened 23rd January 1785 and Susannah christened 28th April 1791.
Margaret married  Daniel Gowland on 13th November 1806 in Sunderland.

This may or may not be of use.

Hi :-

Thanks for posting a reply.  Not sure if we connect.

William Cutter born 1796 was the son of George Cutter & Margaret Hudson.  Unfortunately, this is as far back as I have got.  Did your John Cutter have any siblings?  Suppose it is possible that George & John could be brothers!!!  There again, they may not be  :-

Will certainly get back to you if anything crops up that connects to your line.  Would be grateful if you could do the same.

Best wishes for 2005.

There are Cutters in my husband's family tree - his grandmother was born Lily cutter.

Still trying to trace backwards - have John Cutter and family living in Durham St Giles in the 1881 census.  He was a coal miner.

have not yet managed to get further back.
